Caliber 40 LB Titanium Leader Wire
Our tournament grade 40 LB test Caliber Titanium Wire is an excellent choice for constructing light tackle leaders used to catch game fish with sharp teeth. Applicable for both salt & fresh water fishing applications, our soft non-reflective titanium wire offers smaller diameters for stealth and greatly decreases the probability of kinking and breakage, while maintaining the necessary strength and elasticity necessary for successful landing of your prized catch. Caliber Titanium Wire features the necessary softness to resist kinking allowing anglers the rigging option of using knots, crimps, or a combination of both. In addition, Caliber Titanium Wire is an excellent choice for rigging the popular multiple treble hook rigs used in king fish tournament fishing.

Caliber 40 LB Test Titanium Wire Leader
Titanium wire technology has come a long way. Elastic property being one of the most important features when it comes to fishing. A little bit of stretch goes a long way when it comes to a successful hookup, particularly when your target species has big teeth and soft mouths. Elasticity also allows titanium to be tied with 3 basic knots, the clinch knot, the Albright, and the figure 8 knot. The elastic properties of titanium and strength serve to eliminate kink allowing our product to be used multiple times.
The first time I used knots to rig our tournament kingfish stinger rigs, the knots were the subject of many nightmares and restless nights. When tying titanium the knots are NOT cinched as tightly as the monofilament knots we all have been accustomed to. Frankly, the knots look loose, hence the nightmares, and subsequent stress and anxiety on tournament day. Rest assured that these knots will NOT fail. Of the 3 knots, figure 8 and the clinch are my preferred knots. Even though you will still suffer from the nightmares and stress, this too shall pass.
When making up our multiple hook king mackerel rigs we use Caliber titanium wire to rig the trailing treble hooks behind the J hook. At times we use about 12 inches of #7 coffee colored wire to go from our mainline's fluorocarbon leader to the J hook, utilizing a #8 SPRO Power Swivel to tie the multiple hook rig to the fluorocarbon. The option to use titanium throughout the entire rig is a good option as well.
Titanium's strength also allows it to be used to make upwind on leaders with Jerry Brown Hollow Core Spectra Braided Line. See Line Diameter tab to match wire diameter to desired Jerry Brown hollow core line diameter sizes.
If you haven't used titanium wire for making your rigs, give it a shot, moving forward you will find it hard to go back to stainless. Caliber is an excellent product made in the USA.
