Spectra Braided Line. We use Spectra braided line exclusively in the construction of our products. Spectra was developed by Honeywell and is probably best recognized by the name PowerPro. The reasons for Spectra’s superiority in making wind-on leaders are: Most commercial wind-on leaders made today use Dacron braid. Spectra is much stronger and has a lower profile than Dacron. For example, the 200# hollow Spectra we use is equivalent in diameter to 80# Dacron. This results in a stronger, lower profile leader which passes through the guides more easily. Spectra fiber has a very long life, will not rot and is very resistant to UV sunlight, unlike monofilament line and Dacron. Spectra fibers do not swell in water and nor do they lose any strength when wet. Spectra is available in line strengths up to 500 pounds which allows us to insure that the breaking strength of the braided portion of our leaders always exceeds the breaking strength of the monofilament
Double Wall Construction. We use a double wall construction process that encases the monofilament in two sleeves instead of just the one used by most manufacturers. This process, combined with Spectra’s superior characteristics produces a connection that just does not fail! Hand Tied Wraps. All of our leaders are finished with hand tied wraps at the junction of the Spectra and the monofilament to insure absolute quality. This continuous wrap of 30 pound Spectra results in a wrap that is not much larger than the monofilament it covers.
Special Spectra Adhesive. The wrap at each junction is also treated with a special Spectra adhesive that actually forms a 100% bond between the Spectra and the monofilament.
