Sceptre Kingfish Tournament Series 7 FT Live Bait Downrigger & Slow Trolling Rod.

The Sceptre Kingfish Tournament Series 7 FT Conventional Live Bait / Downrigger Rods are the perfect rods for those anglers who fish for King Mackerel, Sailfish, as well as Stripers. Our rod features a fast action tip with lots of backbone. Ideal for fishing live baits off the kites, slow trolling, as well as off the downriggers. This rod is wrapped in SILVER over a black blank with our custom Sceptre Rods logo.

Features:

Aluminum 22 mm Diameter Reel Seats

All our Sceptre Stealth 7 FT Conventional Rods feature a total of 10 guides including rod tip, a 22 mm diameter aluminum reel seat with washer. The 22 mm reel seat is the perfect size for Avet models MX, LX, as well as the new HX Series. In addition, the Shimano TLDs, SpeedMasters, as well as Trinidads, Penn 545's, and Calcuttas will fit just fine. The reel seat will also fit the new Alutecnos Veloce, Penn Torques, as well as the Penn Senators. Basically any reel that falls into the same size as the reels mentioned above will fit on our 22 mm aluminum reel seat.

When I designed Sceptre Fishing Rods I took into account the many design flaws that I found to underperform when fishing offshore. One of these flaws are reel seats that tighten from the butt up towards the rod tip. This type of reel seat alignment is not only impractical due to the reel coming loose and getting lost overboard, but such alignment can also cause injury if the reel flys off the reel seat. Personally I found that the composite reel seats eventually loose their threads, as well as deform when exposed to the elements. Our machined reel seats will not deform or come loose. Each reel seat features a lock washer to further assure the stability of the reel on the reel seat.

Fuji Silicone Carbide Rod Tip:

The Fuji SIC Rod Tip guides were designed to take the punishment of the new Spectra braided fishing lines. I chose to use the Fuji SIC tip to assure the utmost performance as well as to prevent rod tip
guide tangles, and failure commonly seen in other rod tips.

Turbo Guides:

Turbo guides feature ceramic inserts surrounded by a sturdy heavy aluminum frame. These inserts will not fall off when the rod is accidentally bumped during storage, or from heavy offshore use. The sturdiness of the turbo guide frame protects the integrity of the ceramic inserts.

Slick Butt:

We use the hard plastic slick butts with epoxied EVA underneath to provide a tight fit of the slick butt to the through butt rod construction. This feature prevents the reel seat and butt from dis-alignment over time. Our rods will always maintain the reel's alignment with the guides.

Nylon Gimbal:

We use a hard plastic nylon gimbal on all our rods. While aluminum makes for an excellent gimbal, it will also scratch gelcoat. I have found that replacing a nylon gimbal is far less expensive than gelcoat repairs. Our gimbal will not scratch your gunwale or your deck.

Lure / Hook Keeper:

All our Sceptre Rods feature a lure / hook keeper built into the rod. The keeper allows you to attach your hook or lure to the rod instead of one of the guides. This also avoids the need of having to wrap the leader around the reel. The lure / hook keeper allows for faster deployment of your bait or lure.

Rod Blank:

All our Sceptre Rods are build on indestructible blanks. Short of running the rod over with a lawn mower, these blanks will take a bend from big fish! I have caught everything from Pacific Sails, Yellow Fin Tuna, to Kingfish, and the blanks have all performed flawlessly. The fast tip allows for a super enjoyable fight, while the backbone will facilitate landing the fish.

	Just got a set of these rods for xmas. It was a surprise present from my gf. I had never heard of this brand but these are the best rods I have ever owned. The action is incredible and like others stated before me, the rods have a very smart design. I live bait for kings here in Wilmington. I will be recomending the Sceptre brand to everyone I know.

	I had some reservations about buying a rod completely wrapped in black. I decided to pull the trigger on one to try it out. This is a sharp looking rod, looks amazing and matches perfectly with my gold penn torques. I am very pleased with my purchase and totally impressed with the rod features, weight, action, and overall performance. I have put my request to Santa for another 4 Sceptre Stealths.

	This is the perfect rod for catching sailfish and fishing live google eyes off the kite. I love the tip action of this rod very sensitive but with the balls to muscle the fish in when needed.

	This is an outstanding rod. I purchased this rod after fishing on my friends boat. In addition to action, this rod has great components. I have purchased several rods in the $135 to $170 range only to find out that the components fall apart. Composite reel seats dont last. This rod has an outstanding metal reel seat and the guides have the necessary framing to keep the inserts from falling off. The design of the rod is unlike any of the other rods in this category that I have fished. Like it was said in earlier reviews, a lot of thought and experiences were part of the design of this rod. I recommend this rod to all of my friends who are looking for a live bait rod. Too bad that there are not more models. Scepter should consider making a few more models including light tackle inshore rods

	I have never used a rod like this one in my life. Feels totally awesome very sensitive tip. I fished a tournament 2 weeks ago with a friend who owns the 7 ft sceptres, just purchased 4 for myself. I am thoroughly impressed with these rods.

	I LOVE the action on this rod it is perfect for live bait slow trolling as well as fishing the kite. The design is well thought out it eliminates all the extra unecesary tweaks and it has a place to put the hook when not in use.
