Hold'em Hook Offshore Fishing Team
Our offshore boat is a custom rigged 34 Fountain powered by triple 225 Mercury Optimax engines. We have 28 rod holders, three electric outlets, Two Downriggers, and two livewells. The boat was custom rigged by Electronics Unlimited and has two 10 inch Furuno NavNet2 displays with a 4 ft. open array 6 KW radar, two transducers as well as dual GPS antenas and Furuno VHF. I strongly recommend the open array radar to anyone who is serious about their fishing.

Stuart Kingfish Brawl - May 2005

Greg, Kevin, and myself went out searching for that last quality kingfish to qualify our team for Nationals. It was a sloppy start in 3-5 foot seas. But the Fountain/Mercury combination was able to get on top of it. On our first drift we caught Sailfish, Dolphin, Bonito, and a 17lb. Kingfish. We were in fish non-stop. But were not able to find that big one. We repositioned for our second spread and 5 minutes in we have two quality fish on. Greg and Kevin were on the rods and I cleared the lines. After about 20-25 minutes we get a look at Kevin's fish and we know it is a good one. I was getting ready to gaff it when it took out another 50 yards of line. I thought for sure the hooks were going to pull, but Kevin fought the fish perfectly. He brought the fish back up and for the first time I was nervous gaffing a fish. I took the shot right in the shoulder and Kevin helped me bring it in and thud on the deck. We couldn't believe what we were lookin g at. The biggest king any of us have ever caught. It turne d out to be 56.5 and big enough for second place. We would like the thank Jim for running a great tournament. And all our sponsors for their support this season.
