Our new Sceptre Gladiator Series Standup Rods are hands down the finest big game fishing rods available. The Gladiator Series offers many different options for the world class big game angler. We build these rods on Calstar as well as Seeker Blanks. Calstar and Seeker manufacture the lightest, yet most powerful fishing blanks in the industry.
Winthrop Roller Guides are the finest roller guides ever made. Each guide has sufficient clearance to allow a #2 pencil to slide through the rollers. Unlike other guide tips where the new spectra fishing lines can slip between the roller and the frame, the Winthrop Roller Tip will not allow this to happen. The impeccable machinery and craftsmanship of these guides are truly the best money can buy. Proudly made in the USA by the world's best metalurgists and machinists. AFTCO Unibutts and Store A Butts are the number one choice of anglers every where. AFTCO's committment to product excellence has made these butts the industry standard. Unlike other foreign made aluminum butts, AFTCO butts have the best machined reel seat threads and ferrules. The depth, detail, and smooth operation of the threaded reel seats and ferrules sets the AFTCO butt apart from all the others.
The AFTCO Store A Butt offers the angler the option of removing the butt section of the rod, while leaving the reel seat with the reel attached to the rod. This unique reel seat / butt combination allows the angler to quickly change from a straight to a curved butt without removing the reel. Store A Butts were designed specifically for this purpose.

At Sceptre Fishing Rods we have a huge inventory of quality threads in many colors. Our standard Sceptre Silver wraps look sharp! We manufacture each rod based on customer requests. Our industry unique shell inlays and wraps make each Sceptre Gladiator Rod a work of art. All Sceptre Rods are coated with the finest epoxy. Our rods will not yellow over time.
The Gladiator Standup & Trolling Series feature color accented wraps with fish decals in lieu of the standard diamond wraps seen on most rods. We chose this method because ideal standup rod length allows little room between the foregrip and the stripper guide, placing a wrap in this area typically requires a short wrap that doesn't always look right. We replaced the diamond wrap with a game fish decal surrounded by thread accents matching the colors throughout the rod.
On the Gladiator Series we decided to offer the leather grips as an option. There are many anglers that prefer the leather over the EVA grips. Leather looks sharp, however it requires the proper care. Over time, and exposure to the elements leather grips eventually do have to be replaced. EVA grips do last longer, and can be easily conditioned with spray silicone.
