Most Sailfish on the eastern coast of the US are caught using live baits on kites. Contrary to popular belief, east coast Sailfish can be caught on lures. Ballyhoo lure, and strip lure combinations work very well when targeting Sailfish. In the Eastern Atlantic, Pacific, and Indo-Pacific regions, Sailfish are routinely caught on a variety of lures. Of particular interest are the abalone shell lures, which work particularly well in these regions. Blue & White being the most popular color, due to it's resemblance to a flying fish.
